I’ve traveled with this case for nearly a year now, and it fits in most airplane overhead compartments just fine. I have had a couple short flights where it wouldn’t fit and I had to check it, and everything was fine when I retrieved the case afterwards.
I cut the gaps out of the accessory section and was able to put two Switronix 98w V-Mount batteries in there, which is really nice. Looking at buying the bigger “bottom plate” case as well for local shoots so that I can keep the top handle, shoulder mount, and viewfinder attached during transit which would save on setup time when I arrive.
All in all very happy with this case, and grateful for the protection for my favorite camera that I’ve ever owned!
